Day-by-Day pregnancy calendar FAQ

Get something special for each day of your pregnancy!

1a. Incorrect number of weeks, part 1

Question: I get an error message OR Your calendar says I'm 70 weeks pregnant!

Answer: This is usually a problem with the cookie stored on your browser. (No data about your due date is actually stored on our server, nor is it contained within the daily email message.) Please re-enter your date information again. Make sure you have cookies enabled. You may also need to clear your cookie file.

1b. Incorrect number of weeks, part 2

Question: I know how many weeks pregnant I am, but your calendar says I'm two weeks farther along! What's wrong?

Answer: Most caregivers consider pregnancy to last 40 weeks, based on the first date of your last period (which is at least 2 weeks before conception). Therefore, 12 weeks might be is the "menstrual age" of your pregnancy; while the baby's gestational age (that is, time elapsed since conception) is really 10 weeks. Here's more of an explanation of the differences between menstrual and gestational ages:

  • Menstrual age: Date since your last period
  • Gestational age: Date since conception (usually about 2 weeks after your last period)

On the calendar, you'll see it says something like:

    This is day number 85
You're 12 weeks pregnant [this is menstrual age]
Your baby's age since conception is 71 days / 10 weeks [this is gestational age]

    2. Seeing repeat days

Question: Every time I visit the calendar, I see the same day!

Answer: The program running the system is quite straightforward -- and has been the same for several years -- so it's probably your browser causing this problem.

Let us explain: If you're seeing repeat days (you're recieving the same page over one or more days that you have visited the site), you might want to try pressing shift+reload (hold the shift key on your keyboard and click the reload or refresh button on your browser) to force a reload. Your browser may be caching the page: since it sees the URL is the same as the one you visited the day before, it thinks you want to see the same page again. It takes the page from its memory on your hard drive instead of pulling it from our server -- so you're seeing the old entry.

If that doesn't work, perhaps try to enter your date information again. Make sure you have cookies enabled. You may also want to clear your cookie file.
